Dr. Dennis Makau is an epidemiologist and applied data scientist advancing anticipatory epidemiology across interconnected human, animal, and environmental systems. His work integrates epidemiologic modeling, genomics, data science, and systems approaches to understand population health, identify emerging risks, and move from reactive response toward proactive decision-making. He develops analytical approaches and decision-support tools that transform complex data into actionable intelligence for prevention, surveillance, biosecurity, and resilient health systems.
Research Interests: Anticipatory epidemiology and early warning systems; population health and epidemiologic modeling; integrated surveillance and biosecurity analytics; genomic epidemiology and phylodynamics; forecasting and risk prediction; One Health and resilient health systems.
